Featuring over 2,000 member businesses, the San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau—The City’s official tourism resource—is a “one-stop shop” for visitors to the City:

Our website is available to help you with your San Francisco vacation needs 24 hours a day. At www.sfvisitor.org you’ll find answers to frequently asked questions, descriptions of City neighborhoods, interactive maps, and the latest calendar of events. You can also search the site to find the best restaurants, shops, and services, and even purchase tickets for attractions, transportation, and tours.

Ordering a FREE visitor information kit or a unique San Francisco souvenir is a snap in the site’s “Shop-N-SF” online store. And if you require information on lodging or need accommodations, at sfvisitor.org you can search and make instant reservations at any of the City’s best hotels--including those in Fisherman’s Wharf!

The San Francisco Convention & Visitors Bureau also operates The City’s official Visitor Information Center (VIC).  Located on the lower level of Hallidie Plaza, next door to the cable car turntable at Powell and Market streets, the VIC is home of San Francisco’s premier information specialists, who provide both service and information in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German and Japanese.

The VIC also maintains 24-hour telephone hotlines in all of these languages so San Francisco visitors can garner current information on everything from who's performing in The City's showrooms to who's taking on the Giants at Pacific Bell Park. This “tele-itinerary” of special events, sports and cultural activities is updated monthly and is accessible in English by dialing 415-391-2001.  To access the information in other languages refer to the list below:

  • French: 415-391-2003

  • Spanish: 415-391-2122

  • Japanese: 415-391-2101

  • German: 415-391-2004

  • Italian: 415-391-2002

The staff at the VIC is available to answer visitor inquiries Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday, Sunday and Holidays 9 am-3 pm, Pacific Standard Time. The VIC is closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Easter Sunday and Thanksgiving Day. Live person-to-person telephone inquiries may be made from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Pacific Standard Time, Monday through Friday by calling 415-391-2000 or 415-392-0328 (TDD).

The VIC also has exclusive SFCVB long distance calling cards available, guide books, visitor and destination-specific maps, gifts and souvenirs, plus many other useful items to enhance your visit to San Francisco.
