Black History Month Events at San Francisco Maritime In celebration of Black History Month, the National Park Service has many events planned throughout the month. African Americans in the Maritime Trades photo exhibit is on display in the Visitor Center. Ranger-led presentations include: Black Americans at Sea (February 7 and 27 at 3:00 p.m.); The Saga of a Whaling Ship, Capt. William Storey (February 14 and 28 at 3:00 p.m.); Maritime Routes of the Underground Railroad (February 21 at 3:00 p.m. in the Visitor Center Sailor's Den); and Sea Chanteys - The African American and Caribbean Connection (February 27 at 1:00 p.m. aboard the Balclutha on Hyde Street Pier; requires vessel admission, ages 15 and under free).
