It's time for McCormick & Kuleto's 17th annual "Shuck & Swallow" Oyster Competition, with an oyster and wine pairing benefit event immediately following. About a dozen teams will compete to shuck and swallow as many oysters as possible in 10 minutes. Competition viewing is free. The oyster and wine pairing takes place in the restaurant from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., benefitting The Marine Mammal Center. The cost is $30 per person.

SalmonAID Presents Salmon Month at Aquarium of the Bay
 
Casting out an SOS to Save Our Salmon, Aquarium of the Bay and The Bay Institute have teamed up with SalmonAID to host a month of special events at and around the Aquarium throughout September. Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with SalmonAID partners, view special Salmon Month exhibits, participate in hands-on activities and more throughout the month. In addition, special events include Meet the Fishermen discussions on September 10th; a Salmon Cinema and Native American Storytelling Circle night of films on September 15th; a free outdoor festival on September 26th and much more.

Fleet Week is the Bay Area's opportunity to pay tribute to the men and women of our nation's armed forces. Over the last 160 years, industrial and recreational uses changed the environment of San Francisco's northern waterfront.
