San Francisco Senior Center (SFSC) was founded in 1947 and is the oldest nonprofit senior center in the nation. SFSC is a multi-service, multi-site agency at Aquatic Park (near Fisherman's Wharf) and in the Tenderloin, providing a variety of critical services and programs to seniors and adults with disabilities. SFSC offers a variety of services from daily, low-cost, nutritious lunches prepared by Project Open Hand, comprehensive social services, multilingual Information and Assistance, and case management to significant arts programs, fitness such as Zumba Gold, Yoga, Tai Chi, machines, etc., wellness programs, and lifelong learning. All activities are designed to encourage socialization, independent and active living, while preventing isolation. Meals are served Sunday through Friday. The Centers are open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for activities and services.
