A Fisherman’s Wharf tradition is back with a fresh focus! Wharf Fest returns this October as the Fisherman’s Wharf Chowder Fest, bringing the neighborhood’s beloved chowder competition back to the waterfront.
Two of San Francisco’s most iconic culinary staples—clam chowder and sourdough—take center stage. Watch as 8–12 local restaurants compete for the title of San Francisco’s Best Clam Chowder, judged live by local culinary tastemakers, and catch sourdough demonstrations celebrating another San Francisco favorite.
Chowder Fest is free to attend. Whether you’re a local chowder connoisseur or visiting San Francisco and taking in the sights, there’s plenty to enjoy. Stop by with friends or family and come watch the competition, explore the marketplace, & enjoy live entertainment and activities. To taste the competing chowders purchase a tasting ticket to sample the stalls and cast your vote for People’s Choice.
Free General Admission — FREE Watch the competition, browse the marketplace, and enjoy the entertainment. No ticket required to attend — but this tier doesn't include chowder tastings or a People's Choice vote.
Taster's Hungry Pass - Your ticket to the actual tasting. Includes access to every competing chowder station with a sampler kit, plus a vote in the People's Choice Award.
Taster's Thirsty Pass - Everything in the Hungry Pass, plus beer and cider tasting. Sip your way through the Wharf while you taste your way through the competition.
VIP Judge's Table - The best seat in the house. All the perks of the Taster’s Thirsty Pass + Reserved seating, full chowder service, premium beverages available for purchase, and a meet & greet with chefs and judges throughout the day.
All tasting tiers are limited — once they're gone, they're gone. Free GA is always available, but tasting access is first-come, first-served.
