things to do with kids

Fisherman's Wharf is the most family-oriented place in San Francisco and contains the highest concentration of activities for families with children.

Some popular activities for kids are eating the world famous Ghirardelli chocolate and hot fudge sundaes at Ghirardelli Square. They will be in awe at the Musee Mechanique, a free attraction and the world's largest privately-owned collection of mechanically operated musical instruments and antique arcade machines.

Another hit with the kids is touring and exploring the historic ships at Hyde Street Pier, the SS Jeremiah O'Brien and the submarine the USS Pampanito.

There are free performances for kids daily on the Center Stage at PIER 39 which is close to one of every kid's (and grownups too) favorite things about Fisherman's Wharf, the sea lions.
